IFMSA Council of Advisors

Continuity is one of IFMSA biggest challenges. Of course, it is inevitable in a student-run organization: students come and go, leaders change from year-to-year, and momentum is difficult to generate.

To address these challenges, IFMSA has established the IFMSA Council of Advisors as one mechanism for addressing these challenges - and as a means for involving IFMSA Alumni in the work of IFMSA at the international level. The National Member Organizations are welcome to copy the idea of IFMSA Council of Advisors and involve IFMSA Alumni on national or at local level.

The vision is to find IFMSA Senior/s or Alumni to serve as an advisor/s for IFMSA activities in the following areas:

  • Marketing
  • Medical education
  • Professional exchange
  • Projects management
  • Public health
  • Publications
  • human Rights and Peace
  • Reproductive health including AIDS
  • Research exchange
  • Training

What is the role of IFMSA Advisors?

Advisors might offer recommendations to international group regarding how to survive, thrive and improve activities. They could also monitor what has worked and not worked in the past, and offer suggestions accordingly. Perhaps advisors could collect a list of international contacts that might help IFMSA in many fields (e.g. to generate a speakers list for international meetings, workshops, etc.). Maybe advisors could even build some connections with businesses, to help IFMSA activities with fundraising.

The advisors will communicate directly with the IFMSA International Director responsible for specific area within IFMSA. The Council of Advisors will be coordinated by IFMSA Alumni Director.

Would you like to become member of IFMSA Council of Advisors? Please contact IFMSA Alumni Director.
