For countries that are beginning a new medical student organization for the purposes of joining IFMSA, we strongly encourage you to name your new organization, "IFMSA-Your Country" (e.g., "IFMSA-The Netherlands," "IFMSA-USA," "IFMSA-Japan," "IFMSA-Czech Republic," etc.) Many current National Member Organizations have changed their name to this format over the past few years, and many other National Member Organizations are now considering this change. Rather than making this change later we recommend that you use this format to name your new medical student organization in this way now. Naming your new NMO in this way helps to add credibility to your organization, and it helps to make the link between your organization and,  more IFMSA more obvious. This can be helpful when you are explaining IFMSA to your deans, working to gain sponsorship for IFMSA, etc.

For countries with an already established medical student organization that is thinking about joining IFMSA, it may not be practical to change the name of your medical student organization to this "IFMSA-Your Country" format. However, for the same reasons listed above it might be a change that you may want to consider.
