SCORE Director
SCORE director is the officially elected head of this Standing Committee. He/she is elected at every General Assembly for the period of one year. Presently, the SCORE Director is Paolo Fabio Patruno
The main task of the SCORE director is to supervise the work of the NOREs throughout the year.
Some other responsibilities for the SCORE Director include:
- communication within SCORE;
- updating of the internet homepage;
- preparing the agenda for the SCORE Working Committee at the GA, and chairing these meetings;
- informing the new organisations approaching IFMSA about SCORE activities;
- fund-raising for SCORE projects;
- representing SCORE towards the external IFMSA contacts.
NORE
The National Officer on Research Exchange is elected by the National Member Organisation (NMO) following the Standing Orders of each NMO. Every NORE automatically becomes a member of IFMSA SCORE.
The NORE is the highest authority co-ordinating the Research Exchange Programme in his/her country. He is co-ordinating the work of the LOREs (see below) and representing his/her country at the SCORE meetings.
The main tasks of the NORE are as follows:
- publishing and updating the catalogue of the research projects offered by the NMO in IFMSA database
- signing the contracts for the research exchange programme with the other NORE's
- co-ordinating the selection of the outgoing students in addition to receiving Student's Application Forms, and sending them to the hosting country
LORE
The Local Officer on Research Exchange is elected or appointed by the local committee at the medical faculty. He/She is responsible for organizing, maintaining and promoting Research Exchange at his/her medical faculty.
The main tasks of the LORE are listed bellow:
- contacting the potential tutors, explaining them the principles of the research exchange programme (REP) and asking them to offer the research projects
- arranging the selection procedure
- assisting the outgoing students in the Research Exchange procedure
- sending the AFs of the outgoing students to the NORE
- arranging the practical aspects of the research exchange programme for the incoming students, including:
- contacting the tutor, asking him to recommend literature, articles or Medline references;
- arranging accommodation and boarding;
- arranging social programme;
- Ensuring a contact person for the incoming students
- obtaining the feedback from the tutors
- promoting Research Exchange Program as a part of the medical curriculum, so that students may receive credits for their research.
