Guide to IFMSA-Yahoo!Groups
1. These are the official IFMSA Yahoo!Groups: click here
2. The Owners of the Yahoo!Group will be the NTSD Director. Ownership will be passed on to the newly elected directors after the end of the term of the previous directors. For the sake of practicality, this will be managed with a single yahoo login that will be passed on to new directors after the term.
3. The Moderators for the IFMSA Yahoo!Groups are
a. the NTSD Director for all groups (due to Owner status)
b. Executive Board Members
c. Elected Officials
d. Persons nominated by the Executive Board
4. Members: Membership Settings for the groups should be as follows: Who can join the groups: Restricted (Owners/Moderators have to approve all requests for membership)
5. Posting Group Settings:
a. Who can post: Discussion (Only group members can post messages)
b. Moderation: Un-moderated (Posted messages will go directly to all members of the group). (See point 6 & 11)
c. Attachments: Distribute email attachments (attachments will be directly forwarded to the group members)
d. Reply-To: Author (replies go only to the sender. Should the person replying want to send the reply over to the server; he/she has to retype the group' s email address. This is done because most replies are usually addressed to the author of the original email only and not to the whole group. Certain discussion groups are exempt from this rule on the discretion of the NTSD Director)
e. Subject tag: [nnn], where nnn is the Yahoo!Group's name
6. Features and Options Settings:
a. Messages: Members (all can view messages; moderators can view/modify/delete messages)
b. Chat: Members (chat with other members)
c. Files / Photos: Limited (members can download files; moderators can upload/modify/download files)
d. Bookmarks: Limited (members can view bookmarks; moderators can create/modify/delete bookmarks)
e. Database: Limited (members can view data; moderators can create/modify/delete tables)
f. Polls: Limited (members can vote in polls; moderators can create/modify/vote in polls)
g. Members: Members (members view profiles; moderators can view profiles/change settings)
h. Calendar: Limited (members can view events; moderators can create/modify/delete events)
i. Promote: Members (get sign-up boxes)
Should members require the use of some features e.g. databases or polls, they should ask the moderators to set it up for them.
7. Message Footer Settings: The following text should be used as message footers for IFMSA Yahoo!Groups:

8. Other Settings: Other settings not described in this document are left to the discretion of the group moderators.
9. Moderation:
a. As a general rule no member moderation is activated, as described in 5.b
b. If members violate the IFMSA netiquette the moderators have to send them a warning email
c. Members may be put under moderation in all IFMSA Official Yahoo!Groups if the messages they post after the moderators' email still violate the IFMSA netiquette
d. Moderator should inform the Executive Board on their decision
e. The minimum time period for moderated status is one month
f. Should the same member violate the IFMSA netiquette again after moderation is stopped, the NTSD Director may remove the member form all IFMSA Official Yahoo!Groups, after consultation with the Executive Board

10. Cross Posting:
a. No Cross Posting (posting an email to more then one IFMSA Official Yahoo!Group) of generic messages/annunciations is allowed
b. Cross posting is only allowed if the message is
i. intended for particular teams/standing committees: e.g. New Tech, SCOPE and SCORE
ii. has a Message Body strictly with IFMSA administrative information (internal discussions)
iii. posted to a maximum of five official IFMSA Yahoo!Groups
c. The ifmsa-general Yahoo!Group should be used for messages for a wide IFMSA audience (see 11)
d. Members who cross-post without following the points above may be put under moderation, as described in point 9.
11. About ifmsa-general Yahoo!Group:
a. All members subscribed in all the other IFMSA Yahoo!Groups are subscribed to ifmsa-general. The NTSD Director will subscribe these members to the ifmsa-general, should these members have not already subscribed, on a monthly basis, by exporting the lists.
b. Membership to ifmsa-general is open, and anyone can join
c. Messages submitted to ifmsa-general, cannot under any circumstance be circulated/forwarded to outer IFMSA Yahoo!Groups (no cross posting).
12. IFMSA Yahoo!Groups Inactivation:
a. Only the IFMSA NTSD Director can inactivate an official IFMSA Yahoo!Group, after consultation with the Executive Board
b. Before the group's inactivation, a backup of the member's email addresses should be made
c. It is preferred to inactive lists rather then delete them. This allows IFMSA to retain the list names, possibly for future use.
13. Creation of a new official IFMSA Yahoo!Groups:
a. Only the IFMSA NTSD Director can create a NEW official IFMSA Yahoo!Group
b. The naming of the group should have the following format: ifmsa-nnn where nnn is the groups' name/abbreviation
c. The NTSD Director must give rights to a member to become a moderator, as instructed by the Executive Board
d. All the above criteria have to be carried out, so that the group is made official.
